On September 17, 2020, a devastating wildfire swept through the Mount Charleston area, engulfing the lodge in flames. The fire, which was later determined to be caused by a lightning strike, quickly spread due to strong winds and dry conditions. Despite the efforts of the Mount Charleston firefighters, the lodge was unable to be saved, and it was reduced to ashes.
The original Mount Charleston Lodge was built in the 1930s, catering to the growing number of outdoor enthusiasts flocking to the area.
