The Legendary Fight the World Has Been Waiting For

More than eleven years after their first blockbuster encounter, Floyd "Money" Mayweather and Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao are set to share a ring once more. The legendary fight officially announced for Saturday, September 19th. It will take place at the stunning MSG Sphere in Las Vegas and will stream exclusively on Netflix, positioning it as potentially the most-watched boxing event in history.

Legendary Boxers

This is not an exhibition. Both camps have been emphatic: this is a real professional boxing match, with real judges, and a real winner. The stakes could not be higher...for legacy, for pride, and for a sport that is once again capturing the world's imagination.

Why Netflix? Legendary Fight

The boxing landscape has undergone a seismic shift in recent years and Jake Paul is largely responsible. His 2024 bout with Mike Tyson drew an astonishing 108 million live global viewers on Netflix, cracking open the door for massive, nostalgia-driven matchups that can generate enormous revenue without relying solely on traditional pay-per-view buys. Netflix's entry into combat sports changed

everything, and Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2 is poised to take full advantage.

For Mayweather, now 49, this fight offers a massive financial payday without the risk of facing a young, prime-era opponent. For Pacquiao, 47, it's a chance to rewrite the narrative of their first

encounter...a fight he has long maintained was compromised by a serious shoulder injury suffered during training camp.

What Happened in Fight One?

Mayweather controlled the bout from the opening bell, winning a wide unanimous decision on scorecards of 118–110 and 116–112 (twice). The fight lacked the drama the world had craved for years.

Part of the reason, according to Pacquiao's camp: a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder that he sustained during training camp severely hampered his aggressive, whirlwind style throughout the fight. After a decade of seeking a rematch, he now finally gets his shot at redemption.

Can We Expect a Better Fight?

Both men are well past their physical primes, but they now stand on an equal playing field...aging at similar rates, with similar recent activity levels. Pacquiao has remained far more active since 2015,

going 5-2-1 in eight fights including a majority draw against then...WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in July 2025. Mayweather, by contrast, has not fought a legitimate professional

opponent since stopping Conor McGregor in August 2017.

If Mayweather retains his defensive genius and ring IQ, another one sided performance is possible. But if Pacquiao's claims about his 2015 shoulder injury hold weight and he enters this fight healthy, fans could finally witness the explosive, high-pressure fight they always dreamed of. One thing both camps agree on: with the Sphere's unmatched atmosphere and Netflix's global reach, the stage is set for something truly unforgettable.

The Money

Exact purse figures have not been disclosed, but the financial ceiling for this fight is enormous. In their first bout, Mayweather reportedly earned between $200–250 million while Pacquiao took home $120–

150 million. With Netflix's marketing machine, a record-breaking Las Vegas gate at the Sphere...where UFC 306 tickets ranged from $674 to over $44,000 and global streaming revenue, this rematch has a realistic shot at becoming the highest-grossing combat sports event in history, potentially surpassing the 108 million viewers set by Paul vs. Tyson.
